    Buch (Taschenbuch)

I loved this book it was so heartwarming and so much fun to read!

I especially loved that it wasn’t just a typical romance novel. It also explored deeper themes like grief and addiction, and how we sometimes feel responsible for the actions of our parents or friends. It showed how scary it can be to think we might turn out like our parents. This book was beautifully written, and I enjoyed every moment of it. Abby Jimenez definitely didn’t disappoint! I also read the first book, Say You Remember Me, but I didn’t enjoy it as much as this one. That being said, you can absolutely read this book as a standalone you don’t need to read the first one to understand what’s going on. Some characters from the first book are mentioned and appear occasionally, but they’re not essential to the story. This book gave me such a warm, comforting feeling like being wrapped in a blanket. I felt completely immersed in it and ended up finishing it in just two days because I couldn’t put it down. I was honestly a bit addicted to it. It was exactly what I needed at that moment. It’s a quick, perfect read to get you out of a reading slump just a fun, enjoyable book you can pick up anytime, and one I definitely think is worth reading.

    Buch (Taschenbuch)

“Maybe heaven was just an infinite car ride with Chris. Him behind the wheel. Us leaving everyone and everything behind.”

She's his best friend's girlfriend, and yet Chris can't take his eyes and thoughts off her. And Larissa herself has found someone in Chris who's perfect for her, even though he's not her partner. So why did she choose against him that one night? And what if things had turned out differently? First of all: I love Abby Jimenez's writing style! It's humorous, cheeky, and at the same time incredibly emotional and charming. I was initially worried that this book would romanticize infidelity in some way, but that's absolutely not the case! It honestly explores how to get a second chance and where you end up when you feel lost. The book delves into so much depth while simultaneously building romantic tension. Slow Burn fans, in particular, will enjoy this book! I loved it and would say it's my favorite book by the author after Funny Story.

    Buch (Taschenbuch)

the night she made the wrong choice

I really enjoyed this novel, and it was a typically Jimenez story: a romance novel with emotional depth and heavy themes. Larissa went to a concert and got a ride home, but as it turned out, with the wrong guy. Larissa found a soulmate in Chris and someone who made her feel content. The only problem is that Chris is her partner's best friend. I really liked this Jimenez novel in particular because it discusses heavy themes such as addiction, mental health, and the guilt that comes from other people's decisions, as well as the guilt of setting your own boundaries. In this novel, the protagonists are not heroes, but they are also not villains, they're human. Especially this is what made the novel feel so real and good. Its greatness lies in its humanity and in all the grey shades of it. It was a real love story: romantic, but not at all romanticized. A really good read for the summer and a book that proves that Abby Jimenez is evolving and experimenting as a writer.
