Meine letzte Rezension The Atlas von Rob M. Lastrel
This third part really hits home the grand story it's trying to tell. The horror-storylines our characters play through are used to provide important information on the Carousel-universe, and the protagonist learns so much about how all of it works. Just like the second book, this one felt darker and even more serious than the previous one, creating an eerie and tense atmosphere, all while spiking your adrenalin often enough to keep you on your toes. If you've loved the previous books, this one will leave you wanting even more.

The Atlas

    Dungeon Crawler Carl

    This book slaps. In the best possible way. "Dungeon Crawler Carl" falls in the category of Literary RPG, novels that utilize level-systems, achievements and overall videogame-ish mechanics. This book takes full advantage of this concept, delivering snarky remarks in messages from the system, wordlbuilding through direct explanation and so on. Thanks to two main characters, that bring out the best entertainment (and worst characteristics) in each other, you get the feeling of accompanying a weird couple of friends through an even weirder adventure. I really liked the premise of this, and the overall execution had me laughing and biting my nails with every page I turned! The fights are swift, thought-out and mechanical, but they can get rather graphic at times, this novel doesn't hold back after all. Topping it all of, Matt Dinniman fully delivers on the sarcasm, satire and utter craziness I had hoped for. With a lot of crude charm, awesome setting and gamey feeling, "Dungeon Crawler Carl" had me excited like a kid from start to finish. I can wholeheartedly recommend this book.     Die 13 1/2 Leben des Käpt'n Blaubär

    Dieses Buch ist genial. Walter Moers schreibt mit unglaublich viel Wortgewandtheit, Witz und Komik 13 1/2 tolle Geschichten, durch die unser Blaubär wandert. Von einem Schiff mit Zwergpiraten, über die Stadt in einem Sturm bis hin zu einem dichten Urwald besucht man zahlreiche Orte. Dabei ist alles bis zum Platzen gefüllt mit ulkigen Charakteren, skurrilen Völkern und albernen Geschichten. Bei diesem Roman hat man einfach Spaß und je weiter man liest, desto mehr schließt man den kleinen blauen Bären in sein Herz. Nicht umsonst eines meiner absoluten Lieblingsbücher und eine große Herzensempfehlung an jeden Abenteurer und Geschichtenliebhaber!

    Berserk Max 02

    Mit einer fast unvergleichlichen Dunkelheit und Story, ist "Berserk" nicht nur bildgewaltig, sondern bleibt auch im Gedächtnis. Schattenreiche, detaillierte Zeichnungen eröffnen eine mittelalterliche Welt, in der es vor Monstern, Geistern und Halunken nur so wimmelt. In einer Welt, in der keiner ohne Fehler ist, folgen wir Guts durch Hoch und Tief innerhalb einer fantastischen Geschichte. Für mich setzt "Berserk" einen hohen Maßstab, was Zeichnungen und Storytelling in Manga angeht. Und ist damit absolut gerechtfertigt einer meiner Lieblingsmangas überhaupt. Für jeden Fantasy-Fan quasi ein Muss, wenn man Manga mag.

    Shark Heart

    With a poetic and intimate writing style, plus an absurd premise to boot, "Shark Heart" captured me immediately. Even though the idea of people mutating into animals sounds weird initially, I glossed over it rather quickly, since the change in Lewis appereance and character is one of the driving forces during the story. This novel explores a variety of themes, ranging from family and love all the way to loss, grief and facing the inevitable. Emily Habeck beautifully arranges a mosaic of emotions, swiftly changing from raw and powerful feelings to a quiet and vulnerable moment in time. For me, "Shark Heart" tells not only the story of Lewis and Wren, but also a tale of intense feelings we all long for and fear at the same time. Everyone looking for a touching novel with quite a bit of emotional turmoil should grab this of the shelf, because somehow a husband turning into a great white shark definitely pulls your heart strings.
