I can't tell you how much I loved this book. After having finished it for a few days, it quickly climbed its way up to my top favorite titles ever. Its been a while since I've read something that let me emerge myself in the story this much and let me be emotionally invested to the same extent. Khaled Housseini is so good at vivid story telling, it's such a joy to read every sentence and have clear images in mind immediately. This story in specific moved me very much. It's about friendship and guilt, about war and loss, about generational trauma and overall love and what it means to be a human being, I think. It makes you root for everyone and not forget about their flaws at the same time, makes you incredibly empathetic and achieves what every great book should achieve: Putting yourself in someone else's shoes. It makes you learn about Afghanistan and its people as well. In the end, I know that this book will stay with me for a whole while; its characters and their fates and the way it made me feel throghout the read in general.
