Satoshi Yagisawa tells of Takako, a young woman who suddenly encounters a deep emptiness. Gradually she finds her way back to life and discovers new vitality. His writing style is calm, patient, and unhurried, yet it carries a lot of power and depth. And I don’t mean the calm, patient, and unhurried part in a negative way at all. It’s simply something to feel-good about and also to reflect on. I’m not sure how else to describe it. I could add that it’s poetic and fluid. I simply love books in which books, bookstores, libraries, and reading play a central role. This always creates an instant sense of a haven of well-being for me. And the cover of the book is an invitation for all book lovers. When I see the book, I immediately feel comfortable and reassured, as if my worries have disappeared. This quiet story is ideal when you need a small break from a busy everyday life. It’s also well suited to help someone out of a reading slump (speaking from experience). I simply love it and can truly recommend everyone to read it.
