    Obsessed

Loved it way more than I thought. I liked the first books but they were not special to me. This book changed everything and I have to reread the entire series before ACOTR release, great.

To be seen. To be chosen.

Oh, how much I loved this novella! ❤️ I really appreciate that Rebecca Yarros takes a moment away from the main storyline to explore something so fundamental to the Empyrean world: Threshing Day, the day when dragons choose their riders. Through different characters’ perspectives, we experience their fears, hopes and insecurities. Some are terrified of not being chosen, while others struggle to accept the dragon that chooses them. I particularly enjoyed seeing how their personalities and vulnerabilities are reflected in the signets they eventually develop. But what stayed with me most was the relationship between dragons and their riders. For me, the bond can almost be summed up as: I know everything about you, the good and the bad, and I accept you as you are. All I ask in return is honesty, not only with me, but with yourself. And I think that’s such a beautiful message. Being truly seen and accepted doesn’t mean pretending to be someone else or hiding the parts of ourselves we find difficult to acknowledge. It means having the courage to be honest about who we are. I loved how much emotional depth this short story brought to a moment that already plays such an important role in the series. Rather than simply adding more action or background information, it gave me a deeper appreciation of what it actually means to be chosen by a dragon. I savoured every moment of it and genuinely wished it were longer!

    Thank you Rebecca

Wow… what even was that book?! I went into this story relatively neutrally because I’m honestly not much of a short-story person. So, at the beginning, I’ll admit I struggled a little. BUT THEN WHAT HAPPENED… Omg. So many things were suddenly turned upside down. New theories were formed, old theories were thrown out or confirmed — and at the same time, about a thousand new questions came up. On top of that, several love stories were developed that I NEVER would have expected. And then… that chapter with Sloan. WHAT EVEN WAS THAT?! Omg, I can’t. It’s so incredibly heartbreaking. The way Rebecca writes it so tenderly… the emotions, the sensitivity. I was just sitting there thinking: omg. I’m completely emotionally destroyed, and at the same time, I’m so incredibly impressed by everything this book made me feel.

    We needed these pov’s

You say, it’s not worth a book full of pov’s ?! You are totally wrong! This book gives us the insight on the characters, their feelings, history and how they feel about basgiath and the war. Some pov’s let us understand the handling more and some gives us more insight on how the bonds actually work. You will devour this book, I promise you.

    Buch (Gebundene Ausgabe)

I didn't think I could handle this and I was right...

After waiting almost two years for more, getting to return to this world felt so incredibly good. I genuinely love and hate this at the same time. I went into it knowing I was probably going to devour it, but somehow I still wasn’t prepared for how quickly I flew through it. I'm still not quite sure if I finished the book or if it finished me, but at this point I don't mind it. Experiencing Threshing Day from different perspectives is such a fun addition to the Empyrean world. It feels like getting little pieces of the world and more insight into each of the characters and their bonds with their dragons. Sadly no dragon-POV, but she did say that it wouldn't happen. "The dragons know too much" YEA OKAY REBECCA. Some stories definitely hit harder (Xaden, Liam, Sloane...) than others, but overall, I enjoyed every single one. And yes, there are definitely moments that made me stop and stare at the page for a second (Liam!!!) Rebecca knows exactly how to give us just enough to make us desperately want more, but we already knew that, too. Some of these lines are stuck in my head and I cannot for the life of me stop thinking about them. And now I am left with the very predictable problem of wanting more. Again. Also, the dragons are so funny. I absolutely love their attitude and how they reveal major facts so nonchalantly. This being said, I will go touch some grass, hug a tree and then continue to cry my eyes out, because "It's our sacred duty. An honor, really."

    Buch (Gebundene Ausgabe)

    Succeed or die!

"Threshing Day" is more than just a must-read for all Empyrean Fans! It is a collection of short stories about our most beloved characters and a brand new resource of information about families, politics and the now-not-so-secret war outside the borders. Surely everyone will have new theories after reading this novel, but I fear we have to wait paitently for the release of the fourth and fifth book to confirm those theories. Yes, there is also an emotional impact behind those short stories, but for me, only one of them hit really, really hard - Sloane Mairi! The others were just fun to read, with way less spice than the ´real´ books, and presented a good oportunity to learn more about the different dragons.

    Buch (Gebundene Ausgabe)
