If you love haunting atmospheres, charcoal-black alchemy and crave the slow creeping dread of unimaginable power, this is your new obsession! I loved it so much, probably the most soul-crushing book I've read since Fourth Wing. Writing a book as long as this one and managing not to bore the reader for a single page is pure storytelling genius. This book is a masterpiece, my only problem is that it isn't long enough.

  I cried oceans reading this masterpiece. It's an unconventional love story about two people who cannot be together. Reed and Halley meet randomly at a party and immediately click. The tension between these two absolutely killed me, I just love them. If you liked "Birthday girl", you will love "Older" and vice versa.

  Penelope Douglas ist ja bekannt für ihre Tabu-Geschichten und dieses Buch vereint gleich mehrere davon: Age-Gap, Why-Choose und Forbidden Love. Kein Wunder also, dass es die Leserschaft spaltet. Ich jedoch habe es geliebt. Man versteht Tiernan sofort, ihre Zerrissenheit, ihre Sehnsucht. Und wie sie selbst stehen auch wir vor einer unmöglichen Entscheidung: Wie soll man sich entscheiden, wenn alle so liebenswert sind? Einer ist stürmisch, einer liebevoll, der nächste fürsorglich. Einer will sie, ein anderer hat sie, doch wer ist am Ende der Richtige? Ein absolutes Highlight für alle Fans dieser Tropes, aber lest unbedingt die Triggerwarnungen! (Jeder der Malachi liebt, wird um Kaleb nicht drumherum kommen!)

  Hexenverfolgung, Mutterschaft & Aqua Tofana. Nemesis' Töchter ist ein feministisches Plädoyer für die Anerkennung weiblicher Wut, mit Bezügen zur Mythologie und unserer Geschichte. Ich habe mich so verstanden und vor allem gesehen gefühlt. Tara ist so gut darin Fakten sachlich darzustellen und Dinge tatsächlich auf den Punkt zu bringen. Natürlich schafft man es auf 240 Seiten nicht wirklich in die Tiefe zu gehen, aber das Buch bietet einen sehr guten Einblick in das was uns jeden einzelnen Tag beschäftigt. Ich liebe es so sehr, es vergeht kein Tag, an dem ich nicht an Nemesis' Töchter denke. Ein Buch, das meiner Meinung nach jeder lesen sollte.

  Another book by Penelope Douglas I devoured in a couple of hours. It's THAT addicting. Jordan and Pike meet in the cinema and immediately have a connection. But Jordan has a boyfriend and that boyfriend happens to be Pike's son. When life hits her and Cole, they have to leave their apartment and move into Pike's house. The plot is good, Pike is better and the ending... these two SO deserve some real happiness. I cried rivers for them, not a day goes by that I don't think of them.

Saeris thinks she is normal, but when she opens a portal to another world (by accident) her entire world is about to be turned upside down. She is not as normal as she thinks she is. All she wants is to go back home. And the only one who can help her is death himself. He has a name, and he has an attitude. And he is the one helping Saeris survive and learn how to use the gift she was given. I absolutely loved their Chemistry and the way they can't stand each other but also don't really wanna be without the other one. It was so refreshing, and this book has such a good balance between romance and fantasy. Quicksilver is excatly the kind of book that gets you out of a reading slump and makes you love it again.

  This book took a piece of my soul, and I don't want it back. I was raging, ready to go to jail for River; I have never hated a character more in my life (no, not even Joffrey). I've read some heavy books, but this one really tested me. Another thing I absolutely love is the way H.D. Carlton is making a statement against the ingrained beliefs about dark romance readers wanting and asking for toxic relationships, because we don't. Not only that, but I had to close it every 5 minutes and take a deep breath so I wouldn't throw it against my wall. River has my heart; she has been through so much and managed to pick herself up despite all of it. You feel her every move, her every thought, her every insecurity, and her every fear. The POV of an abused woman is a powerful thing. It's not easy, but it's so rewarding and satisfying in the end. You won't be able to put it down until justice is served.

  I devoured Lights Out. What starts as your typical stalker dark romance turns into something so much more real and unexpected. Aly likes and comments on all his videos online. Josh, curious, a little cocky, and way too intrigued, decides to test her. How? By breaking into her apartment at night and filming a video there for her to see. But what follows isn’t just a dark little game. It’s a story about pain, healing, and that kind of unexpected humor that hits right when you need it most. Both of them are broken in their own ways, and somehow, that’s exactly what makes them fit together so perfectly. I honestly haven’t laughed and felt this much while reading a dark romance in a long time. Josh is such a sweetheart (yes, even with all his messed-up sides), and Aly feels so real, so easy to connect with. Their chemistry? Pure magic.   Eines der besten Bücher, die ich je gelesen habe. Violet ist klug, aber zugleich zerbrechlich. Sie möchte auf keinen Drachen steigen, doch genau dazu wird sie gezwungen. Von diesem Moment an ist ihr Leben ein ständiger Tanz auf Messers Schneide, und nicht nur die gnadenlosen Trainingseinheiten bedrohen sie. Ihre Feinde wollen sie tot sehen. Vor allem einer von ihnen: Xaden Riorson. Er scheint nur darauf zu warten, Violet am Boden einer Klippe zerschmettert oder in Flammen verwandelt zu sehen. Doch wie so oft kommt alles ganz anders, als man denkt. Ich liebe einfach alles an diesem Buch: die Drachen, mitreißende Enemies to Lovers, die absolut liebenswerten Charaktere und die Plottwists, die einen immer wieder alles infrage stellen lassen. Ein Meisterwerk voller Spannung, Emotionen und Magie, das man nicht mehr aus der Hand legen kann.
