Meine letzte Rezension Nightbound – Verheiratet mit dem Vampirprinzen von Kaja Evert
Nightbound hat mich insgesamt gut unterhalten, war aber leider kein Highlight. Das World-Building, die Vampire und das Magiesystem waren sehr interessant zu verfolgen und sehr düster gestaltet - genau das was ich von einem Vampirroman erwarte. Leider wurden die meisten Handlungen nicht tiefgründiger verfolgt, aber dafür nicht soo wichtige Handlungsstrenge viel beschrieben - weswegen manche Kapitel sich gezogen haben und andere irgendwie sofort vorbei! Die Dynamik zwischen den beiden Protagonisten hat mir gut gefallen und auch deren Sprachgefecht war unterhaltsam zu verfolgen, aber auch dort hat es mir an Emotionen, Erklärungen und Beschreibungen gefehlt. Ich würde das Buch aber trotzdem jeden Empfehlen der gerne eine düstere Atmosphäre mag, sich über riesen Fledermäuse freut und Vampire bevorzugt die morally-grey sind und bleiben :D

Nightbound – Verheiratet mit dem Vampirprinzen

Nightbound hat mich insgesamt gut unterhalten, war aber leider kein Highlight.     Heaven Official's Blessing: Tian Guan Ci Fu (Deluxe Hardcover Novel) Vol. 1

    There are some books you enjoy, some books you love, and then there are books that completely take over your heart. Heaven Official’s Blessing is definitely the last one. This series feels like so much more than a fantasy romance. It’s a story about love, devotion, sacrifice, loneliness, trauma, faith, and what it truly means to keep choosing someone even after centuries of suffering. The relationship between Xie Lian and Hua Cheng is easily one of my favorite things about this entire series. Their love is incredibly devoted, but what makes it so powerful is that it isn't simply about romance. It's about being seen and accepted completely, even at your lowest. Hua Cheng's unwavering faith in Xie Lian is both beautiful and heartbreaking, while Xie Lian's kindness and compassion make it impossible not to fall in love with him as a character. I also loved how much mystery surrounds the story. There are ghosts, gods, calamities, ancient kingdoms, curses, and countless secrets waiting to be uncovered. There are details planted throughout the story that make you realize just how much larger the narrative and story is. And the emotional payoff is HUGE. This book can be hilarious one moment and absolutely destroy you the next. The humor, especially from the characters' interactions, gives the story some much-needed lightness because there are some genuinely heartbreaking moments throughout the series. What surprised me most, though, was how much the story made me think about kindness. Xie Lian goes through an extraordinary amount of suffering, yet his compassion remains such an important part of who he is. The story repeatedly asks whether kindness still matters when the world doesn't reward you for it—and that theme stayed with me long after I finished reading. The world-building can feel overwhelming at first, especially with all the gods, titles, history etc., but once everything starts coming together, it becomes incredibly rewarding. (but it does help to have a little notebook at hand for notes :)) Heaven Official’s Blessing is beautiful, tragic, funny, romantic, and sometimes absolutely cruel to your feelings. It’s a story about two people who have suffered enormously but still manage to find something precious in each other. My absolute favorite series ever! “Body in abyss, heart in paradise.”

    The Knight and the Moth

    One of my favorite things about this book was the atmosphere. Rachel Gillig creates such a haunting, almost fairytale-like world, and there is a constant feeling that something isn't quite right. The cathedral, the Omens and the Diviners all add to that eerie feeling and make the story incredibly immersive. And then there’s the romance! - the tension and banter between Sybil and Rodrick make their relationship so much fun to follow. I loved watching their feelings develop naturally while the main plot continued to take center stage rather than allowing the romance to completely overshadow the fantasy. The mystery and twists also kept me turning the pages. There are so many questions surrounding everything and the world itself that I constantly wanted to know more. #bartholomew :D

    The Tainted Cup

    Ich lese viel im Fantasy Bereich und komme eher selten zu ''normalen Krimis'', deshalb hat mich der Genre-Mix sehr angesprochen und ich muss sagen es hat mich positiv überrascht. Wie in manchen High Fantasywelten dauert es ein wenig bis man wirklich den Plan vor Augen hat und sich in der Welt zurecht finden kann, aber sobald man das hinter sich hat liest sich das Buch sehr schnell und spannend. Es mach Spaß dem genetisch Veränderten Hauptprotagonisten Din und seiner exzentrischen Chefin Ana zu folgen. Allgemein hat mich überhaupt das Konzept der vielen verschiedenen Genveränderungen die durch Insekten und co. durchgeführt werden unheimlich interessiert und es war wirklich spannend zu lesen wie weit ein Mensch gehen würde für physikalischen oder mentalen ''optimierungen''. Aber auch das diese ''Optimierungen'' teil deines Berufs werden und sie ab einem Punkt Pflicht sind um diesen Beruf auszuüben. Dadurch das der Protagonist bei Mordfällen hilft, sollte hier auch gesagt sein das alles sehr genau und detailliert beschrieben wird und dadaurch das es ein Fantasybuch ist, sind die Szenen auch sehr Brutal und grenzen schon an Horror! Das Buch erinnert mit seiner dunklen Atmospähre an die Bücher von T.Kingfisher und vorallem Ana gibt der ''Sherlock Holmes'' Persönlichkeit einen neuen und humorvollen twist. The Tainted Cup ist spannend, düster, humorvoll und aktionreich plus einer guten prise wundervoller und interessanten Charakteren mit Twists die man nicht kommen sieht :)

    Thrice Married to a Salted Fish (Novel) Vol. 1

    A good start to a new (hopefully favorite) series. The book starts out slow but you quickly realise that it is the set up for the future books. I loved the protagonist and the plot twist surrounding the potential love interest! Thrice Married to a Salted Fish is more casual and court drama, unlike most danmeis that I have read before - that is not a bad thing! It reminded me most of The Disabled Tyrants Pet Fish (one of my favorite series) from the vibes and lower amount of action.

    Liar City

    Liar City is a paranormal mystery romance with a gripping plot and great characters. I really enjoyed the contrast between Reece, a kind-hearted empath who feels everything deeply, and Evan, the intimidating and mysterious “Dead Man” who can't feel anything. Their chemistry and banter are fantastic, even though the romance is very much a slow burn. I love the worldbuilding, with empaths being feared and persecuted in a society that treats them as dangerous, and through that the story explores some heavy themes around prejudice, fear, and the manipulation of public opinion. I can't wait to continue on with the series :)

    The Wild Robot

    I had no expectations for this book and yet I was still positively suprised. The book is beautifully written and (in my opinion) depicts unexpected parenthood and struggles for single/first time mothers/fathers. The Wild Robot is about Roz, a robot who got stranded on an Island and having to navigate how to cope there, while also having to raise and care for a baby goose :)

    Upside Down - Die Welt steht Kopf

    Endlich gibt es ''Upside Down'' auch auf Deutsch! Das Buch zeigt eine sehr wichtige aber auch unterrepräsentierte Perspektive von Menschen die sich als 'Ace' identifizieren. Jordan und Hennessys Geschichte ist mit viel Humor und Gefühl geschrieben (auch wenn die Übersetzung an manchen Stellen nicht wirklich gut war). Ich finde ''Upside Down' ist ein wunderschön wichtiges Buch, dass auch für jüngere Leser (14-16 Jahren) passend ist.
