We follow a woman who has run away from her past mistakes to be a gardener for a huge family estate, she loves working there but she especially loves that no one knows her past, until they do. The lady who owns this estate is undeniably crazy, but beautiful, yet for some reason she thinks she will die, soon. Every Single person who has ever owned her family estate has died because of freaky accidents. They fall in love, they find out each others secrets, they almost kill each other (and they kiss, yay!)

    If We Were Villains

    If We Were Villains is dare I say one of THE best books ever! After rereading to annotate it, the obsession has only grown. It is so messy, poetic, dramatic, and absolutely heartbreaking... We follow a friend group of OG "Theather Kids" who worhsip Shakespeare, like to get drunk, and get into way too many shenanigans... until one of them dies. The Story is told through an Interview with the person held responsible for their death but as we get to know the friendgroup more we learn that things aren't as they may seem. Will make you hate and LOVE the characters at the same time.

    This is my favorite witchy book! It is so eerie, at times creepy, and of course deliciously dark. Abitha is such a force to be reckoned with and honestly who I might have been in a past live. I think about this book ever so often and the gorgeous, rich prose it beholds, I will 100% reread this many times. Recommend to People who too would dance and frolick naked in the woods, and maybe meet up with the devil and other whimsical dark spiritis. Huge fan of women turning back to their wild and adventorous selfs. Quite literally the song "Me and the Devil" Btw this has some GORGEOUS illustrations!!

    Ocean Voung just knows how to write!! This is so beautiful and heartbreaking, I underlined so many lines and shed many tears. Always looking forward to his next release! If you love his writing, check out his interviews!! (he is so well-spoken and wonderfully passionate about his work)

This is everything it promises to be and more, tragic, poetic, and of course absolutely heartwrenching!! “I could recognize him by touch alone, by smell; I would know him blind, by the way his breaths came and his feet struck the earth.     Oh to read this again for the first time as a 20 something queer woman. Once you read a Jeanette Winterson book, your life is changed. Her prose is just as poetic and beautiful as her stories. She rips your heart out while at the same time making you feel seen. Wanted to underline every single line and I will never forget the first time I read this book, and will continue to reread for the rest of my life. HUGE recommend!! Short, Sweet, and absoluetly heartwrenching.

    here honestly couldn’t have been a better time to read this. picture this - 26 hour bus trip from frankfurt (germany) to mostar (bosnia) cigarette stops and dirty toilets followed by 30 minute naps and being woken up by loud traditional Bosnian music. waking up between mountain view’s filled by beautiful lake water, looking over my shoulder and looking at the beautiful faces of my friends. pure fulfillment of the essence of this book. that alone got this reading experience to 5 stars, and even without that, i would’ve loved this book. the messiness of friendship and leaving home and trying to deal with the pain of it all.

    oh my GOD. cannot believe it took me this long to finally read this book. fell in love with the tone of voice and writing the second I started reading. nothing tops sapphic yearning in vampire stories and as a huge dracula nerd i highly approve of this!!! gave me everything I wanted and more
