Heather and Snow is a novel written by George MacDonald, a Scottish author and poet. The story revolves around two half-sisters, Heather and Snow, who are very different in nature. Heather is a beautiful and kind-hearted girl who is loved by everyone, while Snow is a proud and selfish woman who is disliked by many. The novel takes place in the Scottish countryside, where the two sisters live with their father, a wealthy and respected man. Heather falls in love with a poor artist named David, but her father disapproves of their relationship and tries to keep them apart. Meanwhile, Snow becomes jealous of Heather's popularity and tries to sabotage her sister's happiness by spreading rumors and lies.As the story progresses, the sisters' relationship becomes strained, and they find themselves on opposite sides of a bitter feud. However, when tragedy strikes, they must put aside their differences and come together to face the challenges that lie ahead.Heather and Snow is a poignant and thought-provoking novel that explores themes of love, jealousy, family, and forgiveness. MacDonald's lyrical prose and vivid descriptions of the Scottish landscape make this book a timeless classic that will appeal to readers of all ages.Castle Weelset was not much of a castle: to an ancient round tower, discomfortably habitable, had been added in the last century a rather large, defensible house. It stood on the edge of a gorge, crowning one of its stony hills of no great height. With scarce a tree to shelter it, the situation was very cold in winter, and it required a hardy breeding to live there in comfort. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
