The Authentic Life of Billy the Kid is a biography written by Pat Garrett, the sheriff who famously shot and killed the notorious outlaw in 1881. The book details the life of Billy the Kid, from his early years in New York to his time as a cattle rustler and gunfighter in the Wild West. Garrett provides a firsthand account of his pursuit and eventual capture of Billy, as well as the events leading up to his death. The book also includes anecdotes and stories about Billy's personality and exploits, as well as his relationships with other famous figures of the time, such as Jesse James and Wyatt Earp. The Authentic Life of Billy the Kid is considered a primary source on the life of one of America's most infamous outlaws and has been the subject of numerous adaptations in popular culture.Subtitled: The Noted Desperado of the Southwest, Whose Deeds of Daring and Blood made His Name A Terror in New Mexico, Arizona and Northern Mexico-- By Pat Garrett--Sheriff of Lincoln Co., N.M., By Whom He Was Finally Hunted Down and Captured By Killing Him.This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
