The Boys' and Girls' Plutarch is a book written by John S. White. It is a collection of biographies of famous historical figures, such as Julius Caesar, Alexander the Great, and Cleopatra, written in a way that is accessible and engaging for young readers. The book is designed to inspire and educate children about the lives and achievements of these great leaders, and to encourage them to develop their own leadership skills. The biographies are written in a style that is both informative and entertaining, with vivid descriptions of battles, political intrigue, and personal triumphs and tragedies. The book is a valuable resource for parents, teachers, and anyone who wants to introduce children to the fascinating world of history and the lives of the people who shaped it.For his general temperance, however, and self-control, Cato really deserves the highest admiration. For when he commanded the army, he never took for himself, and those that belonged to him, more than three bushels of wheat for a month, and somewhat less than a bushel and a half a day of barley for his baggage-cattle. And when he entered upon the government of Sardinia, where his predecessors had been used to require tents, bedding, and clothes upon the public account, and to charge the state heavily with the cost of provisions and entertainments for a great train of servants and friends, the difference he showed in his economy was something incredible. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
