""Loyola and the Educational System of the Jesuits"" is a book written by Thomas Hughes that explores the history and philosophy of the Jesuit educational system. The book begins with a biographical account of the life of St. Ignatius of Loyola, the founder of the Jesuits, and goes on to examine the principles and methods that he and his followers used to establish a network of schools and universities across the world. The author delves into the Jesuits' approach to education, which included a focus on both intellectual and moral development, as well as a commitment to rigorous academic standards. The book also looks at the role of the Jesuits in shaping the broader cultural and intellectual landscape of Europe, particularly during the Renaissance and Enlightenment periods.Throughout the book, Hughes provides detailed examples of the Jesuit educational system in action, drawing on primary sources and historical accounts to illustrate the impact of this approach on individual students and on society as a whole. Overall, ""Loyola and the Educational System of the Jesuits"" is a comprehensive and insightful exploration of one of the most influential educational systems in history, offering readers a deeper understanding of the Jesuits' enduring legacy and their ongoing impact on education and intellectual life around the world. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
