The first section includes sonnets and other short poems, while the second section contains longer narrative poems. The third section includes a series of elegies, and the fourth section features Drummond's religious poetry.Throughout the book, Drummond explores a variety of themes, including love, nature, death, and spirituality. His poetry is characterized by its lyrical quality and its use of vivid imagery. Many of the poems in the collection are written in iambic pentameter, a common meter in English poetry.William Drummond was a prominent figure in Scottish literature during the early 17th century.
