Dandy Dick is a play written by Arthur Wing Pinero and first performed in 1887. The play is a comedy that follows the story of the Reverend Richard Jedd, known as ""Dandy Dick"" due to his love of horse racing and fashionable attire. The play takes place in a small English village, where Dandy Dick is the local vicar. The story begins with Dandy Dick's sister, Georgiana, arriving in the village to announce her engagement to a wealthy man named Sir Tristram Mardon. However, things take a turn when it is revealed that Sir Tristram is actually a notorious gambler and horse racer, and Dandy Dick finds himself caught up in a scandal involving a stolen racehorse. As the play unfolds, Dandy Dick must navigate the complexities of his personal and professional life, while also dealing with the eccentric characters that populate the village. Along the way, he learns some valuable lessons about morality, forgiveness, and the importance of standing up for oneself.Overall, Dandy Dick is a charming and lighthearted play that offers a glimpse into the social mores of Victorian England. It is a delightful work of theatre that is sure to entertain audiences of all ages. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
