Tom Brown At Oxford is a novel by Thomas Hughes, the author of Tom Brown's School Days. The book follows the further adventures of Tom Brown, the protagonist of the earlier novel, as he attends the University of Oxford. The story is set in the mid-19th century and explores the social and academic life of Oxford during this time. Tom Brown is now a young man and has left Rugby School to attend Oxford. He is excited to begin his studies and make new friends, but he quickly finds that life at Oxford is more complicated than he anticipated. He becomes involved in various social and political activities, including debates about the role of religion in society and the issue of slavery. The novel also explores Tom's personal life, including his romantic relationships and his struggles with his own faith. As he navigates the challenges of university life, Tom must also confront his own prejudices and assumptions about the world. Tom Brown At Oxford is a richly detailed and engaging novel that offers a fascinating glimpse into the world of 19th-century Oxford. It is a coming-of-age story that explores themes of identity, faith, and social justice. Through Tom's experiences, readers are invited to reflect on their own beliefs and values, and to consider how they can make a positive impact on the world around them. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
