The Fifth Elephant Stage Adaptation

Funny, witty and thoughtful - and Sam Vimes being the stubborn ass, which gets me every time It is a murder mystery woven in political schemes our protagonist hates to involve himself in – but does so anyway, because that is just his damn job. Put in all the other lovable side-characters - such as Angua, Carrot, Cheery and Detritus - and you get the perfect ensemble for this adventure, that is part of the City-Watch books. And as every Pratchett-novel it is filled with many hidden metaphors and references to the real world – including racism, social stigmata, religious superstition, the role of tradition, reluctance towards modern society and technology and, last but not least the role and perception of feminism and being queer. That man really was ahead of his time... if that did not yet sell it, read my favourite footnote out of the book: “He'd noticed that sex bore some resemblance to cookery: it fascinated people, they sometimes bought books full of complicated recipes and interesting pictures, and sometimes when they were really hungry they created vast banquets in their imagination - but at the end of the day they'd settle quite happily for egg and chips. If it was well done and maybe had a slice of tomato.”

I love discworld, but the Android App does not format the book correctly. Changes between different characters disappear - the book is practically not readable.
