Brutus Ultor is a historical novel written by Michael Field and published in 1886. The story follows the life of Marcus Junius Brutus, a Roman senator who is famous for his involvement in the assassination of Julius Caesar. The novel begins with Brutus' childhood and education, and then follows his rise to power as a senator in Rome. The story also explores his personal relationships, including his marriage to Porcia and his friendship with Cassius. As the novel progresses, it delves into the political turmoil of ancient Rome, including the power struggles between Caesar and the Senate. The tension builds as Brutus becomes increasingly disillusioned with Caesar's rule and ultimately decides to join the conspiracy to assassinate him. The novel culminates in the infamous assassination scene, followed by the aftermath and consequences of the assassination for Brutus and the other conspirators.Overall, Brutus Ultor is a gripping and historically accurate portrayal of one of the most famous moments in Roman history.
