When Breath Becomes Air What makes Life worth living in the Face of Death?

When Breath becomes Air is an incredible book that tugs at the heartstrings. It is written beautifully and shows the hardship of becomming a doctor, dealing with illness and being diagnosed with a terminal disease. The Epilogue from Pauls wife Lucy is especially emotional, as she portrays his last few days on earth. I could not stop the tears from streaming down my face. Beautifully written. This book explains alot of everyday situations from the medical world. A must read for every mecidal student, doctor ect.

Life can hit you hard and this book shoes. After Paul got diagnosed with Satge IV lungcancer ,everythingchanges. His realistic stages through the stages of the illness and how his sorroundings react and feel helpless themself. A deep moving strory. Exspecially when you fight with chronic illness its pretty inspiring.

This is one of my most favourite books. I keep re-reading it as years go by, finding new meanings. The book is written really well and the narrative is so earnest - a true masterpiece! Favourite quote: "I knew not to... ask 'Why me?' (Answer: Why not me?)"

Paul Kalanithis choice of words was impaccable and I was emotionally invested early on into the book. I also learned some more medical terms and areas of the brain and their functions.

Ich habe das Buch an eine Freundin verschenkt, was ein voller Erfolg war. Sie hat es in kürzester Zeit verschlungen und war begeistert. Und am Ende sogar zu Tränen gerührt. Nun werde ich es mir definitiv auch kaufen!
