The new crime thriller from Helen Fields plays in the city of Edinburgh. Series of murders occur - or are also suicides involved ?- this is unclear for quite a period of time. The skilled DCIs are struggling dealing with the happenings as well as their own personal problems, which interfere with their decisions for required immediate actions. It is also doubtful if the victims are connected to each other, or are the crimes just coincidences? A very attentive reader can get a hint of the suspected crimes even before the police can bring definite light into the deceased cases. The resolution of all the outrages happens pretty much simultaneously and is packed with many contrived, almost impossible coincidences. Psychopaths are by no means missing in this crime thriller, who have come up with the most abstruse methods of deeds and concealment. This book is a page turner and fascinating from the beginning to the end.
