Habe ich eine internationale Vergleichsstudie, die für mich Verstand hat, ein Bildungsmonitoring, das für mich Gewissen hat, und einen Fitness-Tracker, der für mich die passende Diät liefert, können die Mühen des eigenständigen Denkens und Prüfens durch Datensammeln ersetzt werden. Der Begriff der Bildung gewinnt in Zeiten zunehmender gesellschaftlicher Flexibilisierung und globaler Komplexität bei gleichzeitiger Neigung zu Simplifizierung, bequemlicher Isolierung und ökonomischem Verwertungsinteresse zunehmend an pädagogischer Bedeutung. Die Autorinnen und Autoren dieses Bandes haben es sich zur Aufgabe gemacht, nach einem zeitgemäßen Bildungsbegriff zu fragen und ihn multiperspektivisch zu problematisieren - bildungswissenschaftlich und fachdidaktisch, unterrichtsmethodisch und -praktisch, philosophisch und pragmatisch.

The authors of the book made it their business to ask for a contemporary notion of enlightened formation (Bildung) and to expound the problems of it in a multi-perspective way - be it likewise in a pedagogical and subject-oriented educational manner, be it from the perspective of teaching methodology and of practical experience or be it philosophically and pragmatically.
