The Beautiful and Damned Annotated Warbler Classics Edition

Born into rich families, Anthony and Gloria Patch lead a comfortable life in 1920s New York. Shortly their luxurious lifestyle and Anthony´s lack of motivation to work a job for more than a couple of months causes them financial difficulty. Soon they find themselves reliant on Anthony´s inheritance, which seems increasingly improbable as the relationship with his grandfather deteriorates even more. Discontent with their situation, the couple descends into alcoholism. In my opinion this book was very interesting. The characters are supposed to be unlikeable and make questionable decisions. They don´t lack in complexity. Fitzgerald´s writing is also very beautiful and descriptive.
