Bis wir uns wiedersehen »Dieser religiöse Text«, hat Kühn dem Reporter erzählt, »ist mein Lieblingsbuch unter den zahlreichen Geheimnissen, die in unseren Regalen schlummern. 1732 in Paris erschienen, ist es ein sehr seltenes Buch, aber das ist nicht, was es so außergewöhnlich macht. Es ist einzigartig, weil wir darin ein faszinierendes Rätsel finden: eine Art Code. Wem hat es gehört? Was hat der Code zu bedeuten? Wie kamen die Deutschen während des Kriegs in seinen Besitz? Das sind die Fragen, die mich verfolgen.« Im Jahr 2005 begegnet der Leser einer resoluten und überaus rüstigen Eva Abrams. Mit 86 Jahren arbeitet sie noch immer in einer nahe gelegenen Bibliothek und scheut auch vor einer spontanen Reise nach Berlin nicht zurück, nachdem sie in einer Zeitung ihr verloren geglaubten Buch aus Kriegszeiten entdeckt hat. Ihre Familie betrachtet sie als "Heimchen am Herd", da Eva ihnen ihre Vergangenheit verschwiegen hat... Frankreich 1942: die jüdische Eva Traube, Tochter polnischer Einwanderer, strebt im Alter von 23 Jahren einen Doktortitel in englischer Literatur an. Als ihr Vater mitten im der Nacht von der deutschen Polizei abgeholt wird, ist es an Eva, ihre Mutter und sich selbst zu retten. Doch dann trifft sie Rémy... Ich freue mich immer auf die Bücher von Kristin Harmel (vor allem jene, die auf zwei Zeitebenen spielen). Spätestens seit "Heute fängt der Himmel an" zählt sie zu meinen Lieblingsautoren und ich greife bei Neuerscheinungen quasi blind zu. Obwohl ich wenig Lust auf einen weiteren Abstecher ins besetzte Frankreich hatte, wurde ich schnell eines Besseren belehrt. In jeder Geschichte der Autorin findet sich etwas Neues, Unerwartetes. Eva war mir vom ersten Moment an sympathisch und ich habe sie gern auf ihrem Lebensweg begleitet. Die Protagonisten sind glaubwürdig und gut charakterisiert, allerdings konnte ich das fordernde Verhalten von Eva's Mutter nicht immer nachvollziehen und empfand dies als recht anstrengend. Das Ende hätte hingegen gern ein wenig ausführlicher sein dürfen. Interessant fand ich außerdem die "stillen Helden": ein hochaktuelles Thema - wenn auch in anderem Kontext unserer Gesellschaft - welchem für mein Dafürhalten zu wenig Aufmerksamkeit geschenkt wird.
