Quentin Durward: St. Ronan¿¿¿¿¿¿¿s Well is a historical novel written by Sir Walter Scott and published in 1845. The book is set in 15th century France and Scotland and follows the adventures of Quentin Durward, a young Scottish nobleman who travels to France to serve in the court of King Louis XI. Durward becomes embroiled in political intrigue and romance as he tries to protect the King from his enemies, including the Duke of Burgundy and his own Scottish countrymen. Along the way, he falls in love with the beautiful Isabelle de Croye, who is also sought after by the Duke of Burgundy. The novel also includes a parallel story set in the fictional Scottish town of St. Ronan¿¿¿¿¿¿¿s Well, where a group of wealthy and eccentric characters gather to socialize and gamble. The main character in this storyline is the rakish young lawyer, Francis Tyrrel, who becomes involved in a scandalous affair with the wife of a local nobleman.Quentin Durward: St. Ronan¿¿¿¿¿¿¿s Well is a classic work of historical fiction that explores themes of loyalty, honor, and love in a vividly imagined medieval setting. Scott's masterful storytelling and vivid descriptions of the characters and settings make this book a must-read for fans of historical fiction and classic literature. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
