Long before Jamestown or Plymouth, an English-sponsored voyage touched the shores of an unknown continent. Their names are almost forgotten. In John and Sebastian Cabot: The Discovery of North America, C. Raymond Beazley traces the lives and journeys of these fifteenth century explorers with precision and narrative flair. Drawing on early charts, royal records and contemporary chronicles, this classic exploration history book follows the Cabot voyages to America across treacherous north Atlantic voyages and into the tangled politics of the Columbus era exploration. The result is both an engrossing explorer biography book and a lucid work of age of discovery nonfiction, illuminating the earliest phase of English exploration of America and the first documented steps towards the north america discovery that reshaped the world. For history students, independent learners and anyone seeking a rigorous yet readable homeschool history resource, Beazley offers a clear guide through rival claims, disputed routes and the complex legacy of the Cabots in early British empire history. First published in the age of high scholarship and careful source-work, it remains a foundational study for collectors of classic travel narratives and serious readers alike. Out of print for decades and now republished by Alpha Editions. Restored for today's and future generations. More than a reprint - a collector's item and a cultural treasure.
