Verity

"Verity" hatte mich bereits ab Seite 1 in seinen Bann gezogen. Die Handlung war für mich als sehr wählerische Leserin eine wirklich positive Überraschung - und so las ich das Buch innerhalb von zwei Tagen durch. Seitdem bin ich immer wieder auf der Suche nach Büchern die dem Stil und der Handlung das Wasser reichen können. Colleen Hoover versteht es in diesem Buch wirklich eine düstere und packende Spannung aufzubauen. Und obwohl ich schon so manchen Twist in anderen "Thriller"-Handlungen vorhersehen konnte, hat mich das Ende hier wirklich sehr sprachlos zurückgelassen. Wer Literatur über menschliche Abgründe und toxische Dynamiken mit düsteren Thriller Elemente sowie Dark Romance Aspekten liebt, wird hiermit absolut fündig! Noch wichtig zu erwähnen: Ich empfand die englische Version deutlich angenehmer zu lesen. Der Sprachstil wirkt im Deutschen leider schnell etwas zu einfach gestrickt.

Can Verity live up to its hype? I recently asked myself that question, and after finishing the book, I was overwhelmed and bewildered. What the hell happened??? I was immediately drawn into the story. Colleen Hoover's pacing completely captivated me, and I couldn't put the book down. I honestly read it in one sitting. Lowen's story starts off with a bang. To become a bestselling author, she takes on the task of continuing a popular book series by the author Verity Crawford, who has been unable to write since a fatal car accident. Lowen promptly moves into the Crawford family home to be as close as possible to the author and her source of inspiration. However, Lowen quickly discovers that something is amiss within the Crawford family. The real action begins when she finds Verity's diary and retreats to her library with it, and from that moment on, I was completely hooked. I was constantly trying to figure out what was real and what was fiction, or who was playing a double game. The ending, in particular, left me breathless, and I had to collect my thoughts. Even now, I'm still not entirely sure what or whom to believe. All in all, I can only say: Verity was a book that completely captivated me, both disturbing and fascinating. The author has truly written a story unlike anything I've ever read before. Perfect for fans of breathless thrillers that will keep you on the edge of your seat.

Verity war schockierend und verstörend. Die Spannung hat sich langsam aber stetig aufgebaut und zum Schluss blieb mir das eine oder andere Mal das Herz stehen - eine ganz neue Richtung von Colleen Hoover.

This book disturbed me in so many ways but I really liked it. The first sentence was already catchy and so was the rest of the story. It's certainly not a classic lovestory! There is a big thriller-plot in it and it's incredible. I couldn't stop thinking about this book till I finished it. Can't wait to watch the movie when it's finally out.

Eine wirklich andere Hoover! Packend und düster hält das Buch den Leser in Atem. Eine extrem gute Mischung aus Thriller und New Adult! Bis zum Schluss liest man angespannt und voller Erwartungen weiter - und wird nicht enttäuscht! Heftig und unglaublich gut!
