Garber, S: Ballad of Never After

I already loved the first book, but "The Ballad of Never After" pulled me into this enchanting world all over again. Stephanie Garber simply knows how to tell a story that feels like a beautiful fairytale while also being a grand adventure full of secrets and danger. I especially loved the way Evangeline and Jacks relationship develops. There is still this incredible tension between them and I loved every single scene they shared. There are so many unexpected moments, magical places and little details that make the world feel even more alive. I constantly felt like there was a new secret waiting around every corner. This perfect mix of romance, magic and suspense is exactly what made it so hard for me to put the book down. I love the fairytale-like atmosphere, the unique characters and especially Stephanie Garbers way of telling a story. Everything feels so dreamy, romantic and yet slightly dark at the same time.

There might be many uncertainties in life, but one thing is for sure: If there's a way to get cursed, Evangeline got first row tickets for it. After getting betrayed by Jacks at the ending of book 1 and finding out that her husband is alive, Eva is certain to do anything to break the curse on him. Her wish gets granted sooner than later, but with a twisty twist: Not only do both of them get cursed with the mirror curse, meaning whatever wound or pain happens to one of them the other has to feel as well, but Apollo also gets struck with the Archer's curse - and Evangeline is his fox. Stephanie Garber does not hesitate and just DELIVERS with this one. This book left me speechless. Haven't been so addicted to a book series in a while!!!

After enjoying the first book so much I can´t believe that this one was even better. The story about the valory arch unfolds and Evangeline can´t keep denying her bond with Jacks. Also really liked getting to know more about the side characters, but this ending was devastating and I need 3-5 business days to recover.

My year 2024 has definitive his highlight and it is this beautiful book! “The Ballad of Never After” is the 2nd book in the “Once Upon A Broken Heart” series and is even more fabulous than the first book, although I quite liked that one too. Evangeline and Jacks' story is simply a dream that immerses you straight into a wonderful fairy tale. The big BookTok hype for this series definitely didn't disappoint me this time. I read the book in one sitting and was able to escape from reality for a few hours and spend my time in “Magnificent North”. Stephanie Garber is definitely one of the best authors when it comes to young adult/fantasy novels. I would read any of her books and recommend them wholeheartedly.

What is it with this series that it's soooo addicting?! How could book 2 have possibly been better that the first one?!! This is getting so interesting and the ending just shattered me. I was so shocked...like... you can't do this Stephanie Garber! You're hurting me with this ending!! :D Anyways...I really have to read the next (and last) book of this series, or I will be going mad. I encourage everyone who loves magical storys full of fairytales and curses to read this. It definitely deserves the hype in my opinion.
