Dieses Buch ist (und bleibt wahrscheinlich) der beste Thriller, den ich jemals gelesen hab. Wer eine schaurige Atmosphäre mag und Spannung bis zum Schluss ist hier absolut richtig. Die Kapitel sind kurz, der Schreibstil sehr angenehm und das Setting macht es nahezu unmöglich, eine Pause einzulegen. Für mich sind Plottwists ein entscheidender Faktor für einen guten Thriller und davon gibt es einige. Vor allem der letzte kam absolut aus dem Nichts und hat meinen Mund offen stehen lassen! Größte Empfehlung überhaupt - ich wünschte, ich könnte es nochmal zum ersten Mal lesen!

This is the first book by Riley Sager which I've read and he didn't disappoint! The story started slow but I was soon invested after a few pages in and at some point in the middle of the book I was completely hooked. And what a bunch of twists there are! Most of them I didn't expect or foresee but especially towards the end they kept coming and at some point I was unable to put the book down because I just *had* to know what would happen next. Some people may say that there was too much going on at the end but I enjoyed every second of the drama unfolding. If you're a fan of a good mix between past and present, elderly people with dark secrets and supposedly haunted mansions, this is the book for you!
