"The Only One Left" is an exciting book with a fantastic atmosphere and even better characters. Kit was the perfect protagonist for me, and she kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time. There were so many twists that I couldn’t put the book down. Anyone who loves thrillers will love this book even more. -

I had a feeling this story was gonna be a wild ride but MY GOD was I underestimating it! Sager kept you guessing and surprising until the very end. A refreshing, bright main character, multiple, complex side characters and the unique dynamics between all of them, combined with the chilling extracts of the typewritten truth of what happened the night of the murders, makes for a highly addictive read. Five stars! -

In his latest thriller, we accompany caregiver/nurse Kit McDeere in her new employment to care for Lenora Hope, who is believed - but never convicted - to have killed her parents and sister Virgina in a family tragedy 50 years ago. As Lenora's huge family estate (called Hope's End) is situated at the very secluded coastline of her home town, Kit is more or less separated from the outside world and has to make sense of the strange happenings on Hope's End all by herself. Teeming with spine-chilling suspense, Sager freezes his audience with every single word he writes and does not hold back with a huge bunch of mind-blowing plot twists near the end of the book. I wanted to be entertained and my goodness - have I not been entertained indeed! -

Yep. Another gothic thriller. No surprise there...
This book left me hooked until the very last page. I tried to perfect the art of reading not too fast and not too slow as I kind of didn't want it to end, but then again it was just too suspenseful to not keep on reading. Fellow booknerds may understand the immens struggle. I might even go so far as so say, this was one of the best gothic thrillers I ever read. And I read (and say) a lot. Hope's End is the decaying mansion our story takes place, just sitting at the edge of a cliff. That alone is enough to keep you ON EDGE.... Throughout the whole book I didn't have a clue what was going on, which now as I'm typing it, makes me think what it says about me. Let's just say Riley Sager created a story of mystery, suspense and the right amount of creepiness that ensures to keep on reading. Actually you get the perfect reading experience from being clueless until the end. You're welcome.
