First of all: this was not my fav of the series… but! This book is very important for everything that is to come and understanding where Rip is coming from while also giving Auren the time to heal and develop in her own time. So you need to be patient with the slower pace of this book because it is needed. I loved the new povs and learning more about the characters while also getting a hint of the epic showdown that is sure to come! The last third had me in a chokehold and now i need to immediatly be reading Gold. ! make sure to read the trigger warnings !

I had high hopes for this book after enjoying the first three in the series, but unfortunately, it fell short for me. The characters felt off, with Auren coming across as immature and Slade as always having the perfect response. The lack of significant events left me feeling underwhelmed and eager to finish the book quickly. Overall, I'm disappointed with this installment.

Very well executed!

I needed some time after part 3 of the plated prisoner series. Now I've finally read part 4 and I am absolutly happy with how it turned out. I must say it has a much slower pace in comparison to the other parts but that is for a reason. Auren has to heal after the events of the last book and Raven Kennedy gives her (and also the reader) a good amount of time to do so. I thought that was an amazing thing to do for the series. It would have been so unrealistic in my opinion to just not give her the time she needs when she had to endure so much trauma. Auren has to relearn to trust her own body and also her magic which is not a thing happening over night. On the last 100 pages Raven Kennedy does what she does best which is pushing the reader over the edge with such a dramatic and spectaclular ending that I just can't wait to finally get my hands on the last book of the series because right now? Who even knows anymore what's about to happen?!!
