On January 1, 2006, the first episode of series ten of Agatha Christie's Poirot, "The Mystery of the Blue Train," was made available for public viewing. This extended episode is based on the Agatha Christie book of the same name, which served as the source material. Guy Andrews wrote it, and Hettie Macdonald was the one who directed it.
Poirot becomes involved in the investigation of the brutal murder of American heiress Ruth Kettering and the disappearance of her fabulous ruby known as the 'Heart of Fire' while he is on the Blue Train traveling between Calais and Nice. Who is to blame for this? To put together the pieces of the tragic puzzle, Poirot interviews the girl's father, her maid, her estranged husband, her eccentric cousins, and a host of other peculiar passengers.

I really enjoyed reading The Great Gatsby. Although it is considered a classic novel, I found it surprisingly easy to read and follow. What I liked most was the way the novel explores themes such as love, ambition, wealth, and the pursuit of the American Dream. „At the enchanted metropolitan twilight I felt a haunting loneliness sometimes, and felt it in others“ I don’t know how to find a proper rating for this book but it was phenomenal. I loved the writing, the characters, the setting and the story. It’s a tragically story about Jay Gatsby, who fell in love at a young age, but went to fight in World War I. Afterwards he studied at Oxford in an attempt to gain an education. But it turns out that he’s too late, and his love married another man. So he dedicates himself to winning her back, and his acquisition of millions of dollars, his purchase of a gaudy mansion on West Egg, and his lavish weekly parties are all merely means to that end. His talent for self-invention is what gives Gatsby his quality of “greatness”. -

Nicht Poirots bester Fall
"The Mystery of the blue train" ist ähnlich wie der Vorgänger "The Big Four" ein Roman, den Agatha Christie nach ihrer Scheidung von ihrem ersten Mann hastig schrieb, um den Verlag zu befriedigen. Zwar besser als "The Big Four" sind auch hier einige Längen zu spüren. Auch ist der Plot nicht so straff und fesselnd wie in anderen Christies.
