Rezension

'Utterly absorbing ... One of my books of the year' ANDREA MARA

'Wickedly twisty, menacing, sexy, and headily atmospheric, The Surf House has got it all' LOUISE CANDLISH

'The queen of the destination thriller is back with her best book yet! Evocative, tense and twisty with Lucy Clarke's trademark beautiful writing, The Surf House gripped me from the very first page. Totally unputdownable.' CLAIRE DOUGLAS

'Atmospheric, gripping, and full of twists - it's a thriller I won't forget' RACHEL ABBOTT

'With its intoxicating Moroccan location, its intricately layered characters and a menacing plot that builds and builds like a surging wave, The Surf House pulled me in and left me totally breathless' HANNAH RICHELL

'Sexy and visceral and compulsive, the story swelling with every turn of the page. I read it in one sitting and loved every second' CHARLOTTE PHILBY

'Evocative, emotional and absorbing. I read it in a day and it has really stayed with me' RUTH MANCINI

'Escapist, thrilling, unforgettable' GILLIAN McALLISTER

'Beautiful, visceral and so emotionally rich, this gripping destination thriller had me completely engrossed' BETH O'LEARY

'The tension builds with every chapter ... You're going to want to ride this wave!' AMY McCULLOCH

'Deliciously sun-soaked and full of the love of surfing, it's a thrilling story of self-discovery - and survival. I loved it' EMYLIA HALL

I’ve loved Lucy Clarke’s previous novels, but she’s done it again with The Surf House. I always find it fascinating how the author combines a beautiful location with an exciting story, everything fits together perfectly. This time, the action occurs in Morocco, an idyllic place popular with many tourists. If you are familiar with the author’s writing style, you will quickly realize that there is much more to the story than you might suspect at the beginning. Bea is also one of those people who gets stuck in this idyllic place through mysterious circumstances, something seems to magically attract her. Is it the Surf House or the people who lovingly welcome her there? In order to get an overview of her situation, she decides to stay, a decision she soon begins to regret. Even though I’m not interested in surfing myself, I still found it exciting and suitably wrapped up in the plot. I would perhaps have liked a little more history about the country itself. The author never seems to run out of ideas for adding more suspense. It stays interesting until the end, which is another aspect I like.
