The Whispering Dark

Delaney has always been hearing the dark, seeing shadows and the face of a little boy in the night... When she and Colton meet at the Godbole institute, where people learn to walk between worlds, he recognizes her instantly, but he has been told to stay away from her. Even though they try, circumstances keep bringing them together as they get wrapped up in something dark and sinister. What I liked most about this was the beautiful prose - out of the many YA-books that exist, the writing in this one really stood out to me, because it created a dark and foreboding atmosphere and vividly painted all of the surroundings. The only thing I thought was missing was a little more background information and explanations about the magic and the other worlds. I think the author purposely chose to keep the reader in the dark about as many things as possible for as long as possible. That sometimes did get tiring and the more obvious things could have been spelled out to make the more mysterious aspects all the more impactful. Nevertheless, this was a very enjoyable, dark and romantic fantasy read that also had some depth to it.

Die ersten 160 Seiten haben mich sehr viel Durchhaltevermögen gekostet. Es war sehr verwirrend und ohne wirkliche Antworten in Sicht. Nach und nach wurden einen aber ein paar Brotkrumen zugeworfen und ich habe sie sehr schnell verschlungen!! Ich war zwar immer noch verwirrt aber im positiven! Ich wollte wissen was von meinen Theorien stimmen und wie es ausgehen wird. Das Buch hat mich an einigen Stellen auch sehr überrascht. An einigen Stellen dann aber doch wieder etwas langatmiger... But all in all Love them. Love him. Love it. War echt begeistert
