    Buch (Gebundene Ausgabe)

    Machines and Obsessions

Diving into this book, I wasn't sure what to expect. An increasing number of AI slop, questions on ownership of data, controversies on what creativity truly is lead me to dive into the subject with the help of David Hajdu. What I found was intriguing. The relationship between machines (or automata) and art has long been existent, and following the author on this historic journey was intriguing. Ranging from art-making "robots" from way before electricity to the advent of machinery, this book interweaves history, anthropolgy, psychology, and technology in an attempt to truly understand the relationship between man and machine. There are no easy answers when it comes to if, how, and why we should or shouldn't be using AI today. If you want to find answers for yourself, though, this is an amazing place to start and a truly insightful examination of how art and technology have never been contradictory (and still remain opposites. Yes, it's complicated.)
