I liked it way more than I thought I would. The book is really light and fun. I laughed on several occasions, imagining Darcy playing his games and trying to act all cool, and yet seeing his efforts backfire every time. The book also has some reflections, but they’re part of the author’s journey. It doesn’t get overly sentimental, and the final letter is by far the best—exactly the ending I was rooting for.

The author's character development is neat. As I started the book, I had no idea how the story would end; Mr Darcy could lead us both ways. The end is bittersweet but fulfilling. The author wasn't preoccupied with handing us a sweet American romance but a true story. And that counts for something.
