Cold Eternity

Book Three that I've read of Barnes's and my never-ending love favorite. Hiding from a lot of things, broke, alone, and hunted, Halley finds a job opening on a legendary ship. A proper floating graveyard, which most of the populace thought long abandoned. The corpses of the rich, frozen for technology to catch up with their wishes...but not all look like they should. Basically alone on the ship, Halley makes some connections and discoveries she shouldn't have. Ok so. HONESTLY. Big love, actually the biggest love. I cried?! Kind of, nearly, but close enough to count, I think. Bodysnatcher vibes mixed with an old-earth alien cult and the never-ending dream of living eternally for some humans. As always, the mood, the vast emptiness of the setting in Barnes's books, is gripping, and the characters are still really well done. Never enough of her or space horror.
