    Finding comfort between the lines

The Seoul Letter Shop is a quiet and heartfelt novel that is carried above all by its characters and atmosphere. At the center of the story is Hyoyeong, who, after going through some difficult experiences, is unsure of where her life should go next and begins working at a small letter shop in Seoul. I particularly love the atmosphere of the letter shop. People come there to write letters and put into words the thoughts they cannot express in their everyday lives. Through these letters, connections form between people who would otherwise never have known each other, and they give one another courage and strength through their words. Baek Seungyeon's writing style is very calm and gentle. While reading, you genuinely get the feeling that the time is moving a little more slowly. I found many stories of the shop's customers very interesting and varied, creating many touching moments. Alongside the stories of the letter shop's visitors, we also follow Hyoyeong's story as she changes through her work at the shop. She begins to reflect on her own feelings, her past and her relationships. In this way, letter writing becomes a symbol of opening yourself up to both yourself and others once again. It's a warmhearted and gentle novel about human relationships and the importance of words. It is especially suited to readers who are looking for a calm and cozy atmosphere and who enjoy focusing on the small moments in life.
