I read the whole series a while ago, and because there has been a new release in the David Hunter series, I took this opportunity to reread the older books first to get up to date. I know this is only the third book and the newest is already waiting on my to-read shelf, but no pressure. Also, in the third case, the author takes a deep dive into the different stages the human body goes through after death. For some people, this might be too much, even if they like crime. With this series, you get more than one guarantee; there is always a body lying around somewhere, maybe more. And it gets your imagination racing into high gear. The author writes so vividly that I find it impossible to not placing myself there to the location. Despite how gruesome it might be, from a scientific point of view addictive nevertheless. I thought I would give it a break after the third case, but I get the impression that once you have begun, you can’t stop. This series is exactly this, an addiction you can’t resist.

David Hunter geht einem Kriminalfall auf einer abgelegenen Insel nach. Da der Fall zuerst nicht als besonders verdächtig eingestuft wird, wird er nur von zwei Polizisten begleitet. Als sich herausstellt, dass doch mehr dahinter steckt, ist das Unwetter bereits über die Insel hereingebrochen und sie sind auf sich alleine gestellt. Das Buch ist gut geschrieben, jeder ist mal verdächtig, man weiss aber auch nie, wer das nächste Opfer wird. Die Auflösung ist überraschend, aber sehr nachvollziehbar und gut erklärt.
