Yuletide: Curse of the Winter Witch

I really loved this book, which tells a very different and fascinating story of the real history of Christmas, where Yulefather and Perchta kept a peaceful balance between good and evil. But Perchta turned evil and was trapped in a box. Which, of course, will be opened in this story - with chaotic consequences. But a group of kids, supported by an elf, is determined to set things right and restore the real Christmas spirit. The book was full of suspense but also humor, and I loved the details about the members of Perchta's wild horde, which were not all known to me before. The illustrations were full of colour and festive atmosphere, but also the icy cold was perfectly captured in hues of white and blue. The last page hints at a sequel, which would be very welcome! Yuletide definitely is the Christmas must-read book of the year!
