Another book from Rina Kent I was super excited to read! I found the premise of this book really intriguing. We follow Adrian Volkov and Winter. Adrian is the ruthless strategic mind behind the Russian mafia, and Winter is a homeless girl, who is doing everything in her might to get by. Winter also happens to be the spitting image of Adrian’s dead wife. One day, Adrian tricks Winter into entering a deal: if she pretends to be his dead wife, she doesn’t have to go to prison for her past actions. She doesn’t have much of a choice, so she agrees to play along. I have to admit, I didn’t like Adrian at first, I really didn’t like how he acted towards Winter; he was always cold, detached, he wouldn’t even call her by her actual name! But the plot twist at the end really saved it! I didn’t see it coming, it actually left me speechless. I closed the book and needed a couple minutes to process what happened, and then I immediately bought the second book. Adrian goes through a huge character development during the trilogy. I started out hating him, but in the end, he really grew on me! His and Winter’s story is a true rollercoaster of emotions, and despite everything they go through, they make it out, and it’s truly a match made in heaven. If you’re looking for a dark romance book that’s emotional, spicy, and filled with plot twists that will leave you speechless, you should read this book!
