More Than a Badge: The Making of a Mountie is a thoroughly revised and expanded second edition that takes readers beyond the uniform to reveal the experiences, challenges, and values that shaped a lifetime of service. Over a distinguished 33-year career with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, William "Bill" Kelly served communities throughout New Brunswick and Nova Scotia, earning the trust of those he served while facing the realities of frontline policing, leadership, and family life. Through honest and engaging storytelling, he shares memorable investigations, career milestones, personal sacrifices, and the lessons that shaped both the officer and the man. Completely restructured with 69 shorter chapters, this edition offers greater depth, improved readability, and many new insights not found in the original publication. Rather than simply recounting events, Kelly reflects on the decisions, relationships, and experiences that defined his career and prepared him for future international service. As the foundation of an eight-book series chronicling a lifetime of public service, More Than a Badge introduces the experiences that ultimately led to seventeen international peacekeeping, civilian policing, and election observation missions around the world. Throughout every chapter runs the guiding philosophy that has shaped both the author's life and his writing: Service. Humanity. Purpose. Whether you are interested in policing, leadership, Canadian history, or stories of resilience and service, this memoir offers an honest, inspiring, and deeply personal account of one man's lifelong commitment to making a difference.
