Meine letzte Rezension Dire Bound von Sable Sorensen
Brutal and unexpected: if at the beginning of the book you think that Meryn has suffered too much in her life already, then be prepared for worse things yet to happen. Sable Sorensen creates a unique, thought-through story that is severely addictive from the start. Secrets are being kept that have the power to destroy and remake the land that has for centuries been plunged into an unforgiving war and to turn the political tides. Amidst all the brutality of the trials and schemes of their enemies, true friendships are formed, and the heartfelt moments between the characters and their bonded wolves are the cause for noumerous giggles and also a welcome contrast to the unrelenting bloodshed and schemes. This trilogy deserves every bit of praise.

When faced with the question of whom to trust in a world full of people who want to use others for their gain, these protagonists must overcome their traumas, trust issues, and insecurities to fight for their freedom. Sometimes it's necessary to do whatever possible to ensure that all of them can survive and have a better life. "Six of Crows" is a fantasy book I would recommend to every young reader who is struggling to find their place in life and has difficulties embracing themselves. Because this book is full of characters with different flaws, struggles, traumas and insecurities, it can be encouraging to read about the progress each character makes along the way, while friendships are formed, relationships develop and adventures arise. Brace yourself for a captivating plot with many twists and turns you won't see coming! And if you want to dive deeper into the Grishaverse and get to know more characters, you can also read the "Shadow and Bone" trilogy and the "King of Scars" duology.

    Atwood schreibt über eine Zukunft, wo Frauen unterdrückt und ausgebeutet werden. Für die Protagonistin ist die Freiheit nur ein Konzept ihrer Fantasie, denn auf Ihrer Tagesordnung steht die Gefangenschaft. Magaret Atwood verereint wahre, zeitgenössiche Ereignisse und erschafft einen dytopischen Roman der einem unter die Haut geht und stellt diesen Schrecken und diese Knechtschaft unverblümt dar.

    Ich schreibe Dir diesen Brief ...

    Jorge Bucay vermittelt eindrucksvoll in einer Vielzahl von Briefen alles rund um das Sein und das Leben in all seinen Facetten: Liebe, Selbstliebe, Verlust, Erwartungen und Enttäuschungen. Bucay entschlüsselt aber auch Themen wie zwischenmenschliche Beziehungen und das eigene Denkverhalten mit humorvollen Metaphern und Witz, wobei die Tiefe und Bedeutung nicht verloren gehen. Ein absoluter Page-turner, den man nicht aus der Hand legen kann und auch mehr als einmal lesen muss und sollte.

    With this new compelling start to Mafi's fantasy book series, the author creates a story full of prophecies, courtly intrigue, forbidden alliances, and a swoonworthy love story. Apart from the intriguing plot and memorable characters, Mafi's way of poetic writing is creating a vivid narrative, so be prepared to get immersed in the story.  Though the first book takes some time to introduce the readers to the world, magic, and characters, the unexpected, tension-filled ending makes up for that. And after that, only the devil knows which twists and turns await you in the other books...it only gets better!

    A Darker Shade of Magic

    Only a few people can travel between worlds, and Kell is one of them. Embark on an adventure through not only one but four different versions of London, each uniquely characterized by their political system, environment, and societies with their diverse living conditions and morals. The dynamic between two protagonists could not be written more exhilaratingly, and their upbringing in different worlds and social classes establishes a contrast between the two characters, who yet form a dazzling bond that is rooted in prejudice, the will to survive, and shared interests. It is a definite recommendation for all who enjoy fantasy full of complex characters, unexpected and forbidden relationships, blurred lines between enemies and allies, and fights to survive.
