City of Thieves

Everyone who read Khaled Hosseini’s „The Kite Runner“ – watch out! If you thought you might never again read such an outstanding novel about friendship, I might prove you wrong. The plot sounds absurd: two adolescent guys desperately egg-hunting in the encircled, starving city of Leningrad 1942. It’s mostly the absurdity of their mission, that welds together the mousy Lew and the bragging loudmouth Kolya, whose lifes depend on a dozen eggs. Another great Novel by David Benioff, whose melancholic NYC-drama “The 25th Hour” is also worth a look. By the way: Part of “The City of Thieves” is based on facts, and Lew is none other than Lew Benioff, David Benioffs grandfather. This audiobook is intriguingly read by "Hellboy" Ron Perlman.
