Inhalt und Details

Neil Gaiman's extraordinary Fragile Things, from the bestselling author of The Ocean at the End of the Lane and American Gods, reveals one of the world's most gifted storytellers at the height of his powers, and harnesses the Gothic power of Angela Carter's The Bloody Chamber to the storytelling genius of Stephen King. 'The collections also boasts lush prose . . . and a winning faith in the enchantment of stories' Kirkus Reviews

The distinctive genius of Neil Gaiman has been championed by writers as diverse as Norman Mailer and Stephen King. With THE SANDMAN Neil Gaiman created one of the most sophisticated, intelligent and influential graphic novel series of our time. Now Gaiman has produced FRAGILE THINGS, his second collection of short fiction. These stories will dazzle your senses, haunt your imagination and move you to the very depths of your soul.

Neil Gaiman is the No.1 Sunday Times and New York Times bestselling writer of books, graphic novels, short stories, film and television for all ages, and is known for creating extraordinary worlds beyond imagination. He has been awarded numerous literary honours and many of his books have been made into films and adapted for TV and radio. In recent years, Neil wrote and was the showrunner for a critically acclaimed television adaptation of Good Omens, the seminal novel he co-authored with the late Sir Terry Pratchett. He has also written two episodes of Doctor Who and appeared in The Simpsons as himself.

In 2017, Neil became a Goodwill Ambassador for UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency. He received a Doctor of Letters from the University of St Andrews, is a Professor in the Arts at Bard College and is a Royal Society of Literature fellow. Born in the UK, Neil now mostly lives in America, and travels all around the world every year appearing at festivals, events and conventions.

Nothing quite comparable to Gaiman...

Salema Arefayne, Thalia-Buchhandlung Karlsruhe

It is in fact indusputable to me that Neil Gaiman knows how to write engaging and captivating novels. But with his short story collection "Fragile Things" he surely proves that he doesn't need a novel to do that. Most of his short stories pulled me in within a few pages, sometimes even within the first sentences. You'll find some truly haunting (sometimes creepy), but also beautiful and poectic stories.
