The Exploits of Brigadier Gerard is a collection of short stories written by Arthur Conan Doyle, the creator of Sherlock Holmes. The book follows the adventures of Brigadier Etienne Gerard, a fictional French soldier during the Napoleonic Wars. The stories are narrated by Gerard himself and are full of his humorous and exaggerated accounts of his experiences.Gerard is a brave and skilled soldier, but he is also vain and boastful. He constantly brags about his accomplishments and his bravery, even when the truth is less impressive than the stories he tells. Despite his flaws, Gerard is a lovable character who always manages to get himself into amusing and sometimes dangerous situations.Throughout the book, Gerard travels across Europe, fighting in battles and encountering a variety of interesting characters. He participates in duels, rescues damsels in distress, and even becomes embroiled in a plot to assassinate Napoleon himself. The Exploits of Brigadier Gerard is a lighthearted and entertaining collection of stories that showcases Conan Doyle's skill as a storyteller. The book is full of action, humor, and adventure, and is sure to delight fans of historical fiction and classic literature.'Tut, you speak as if an army could charge in and charge out again like your regiment of hussars. If Soult were here with thirty thousand men--but he will not come. I sent for you, however, Colonel Gerard, to say that I have a very singular and important expedition which I intend to place under your direction.'This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
