Lady Anna is a novel written by Anthony Trollope, first published in 1874. The story revolves around Lady Anna, the daughter of a wealthy earl who falls in love with a young tailor named Daniel Thwaite. However, their relationship is opposed by Lady Anna's mother and the rest of her family, who believe that Daniel is beneath her station. As Lady Anna struggles to choose between her heart and her duty to her family, Daniel becomes embroiled in a legal battle over an inheritance that could change his fortunes. Meanwhile, Lady Anna's mother and her scheming lawyer, Sir William Patterson, try to manipulate her into marrying a wealthy suitor who will secure their financial future. The novel explores themes of class, love, and the power of money in Victorian society. It also delves into the complexities of family relationships and the tension between individual desires and societal expectations. Lady Anna is considered one of Trollope's lesser-known works, but it has been praised for its engaging plot and nuanced characterizations. It is a must-read for fans of Victorian literature and anyone interested in the social and cultural history of the era.Not a word had been heard in Keswick of the proposed return of the old lord -- for the Earl was now an old man -- past his sixtieth year, and in truth with as many signs of age as some men bear at eighty. The life which he had led no doubt had had its allurements, but it is one which hardly admits of a hale and happy evening. Men who make women a prey, prey also on themselves. But there he was, back at Lovel Grange, and no one knew why he had come, nor whence, nor how. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
