The antichrist was born! The end of the world is nigh...

After watching and loving the show to the moon and back it was a given that I had to pick up the book its based on. Good Omens is a delightful and fun read about the end of the world. Armageddon is near and the fate of almost all creation relies on an angel, a demon and many more peculiar characters that I´ve grown very fond of. While it is one hell of a fun ride, it´s also very deep and debates interesting questions hidden within sassy banter. I find it hard to put into words how and why I enjoyed this book so much so you´ll just to take a leap of faith and trust my judgement when I say: Good Omens is one of the books you should definetely read at least once. And if it´s not worn out, with dozen annotations and other signs of use then you´ve done something wrong ;D

amazing narration - story couldn't hold me though

**3.5 stars** // This was such a difficult book to review! I really enjoyed the first third, and as I’ve been listening to it alongside reading I especiallh loved the narration of it - this was superbly done! Maybe it was the fact that I couldn’t keep my expectations level, since soo many people rave about this book, but I honestly was a bit disappointed. This is by no means a bad/badly written book, but it lacked some things for it to have become a 5-star-read. But let’s start with the positives: - The humour is AMAZING. Exactly my kind of humour - dry and witty British humour / - The philosophical and theological questions it poses, in this humouristic way (which gave it its satire-esque vibe), were a joy to grapple with. I love it, when a book does this. When it leaves you pondering deep thoughts and questions about live and the world. / - The idea/the plot was so out of the box that it really intrigued me. And it started off strong. Letting me guess where this story might end up. Alas, the plot somehow fizzled out, imo. The pacing was too slow for me and there were too many characters for me to keep track of. Here the audio book helped, as the narrators have done an incredible job at lending each character a different voice. Still, I felt like the wish to let all of these characters matter equally (in their own right) made it too overloaded and took away from the ending, as there were too many viewpoints coming together. As I’m someone who normally enjoys character driven plots and well written characters this was a bit of a unexpected let-down. I can see, why so many people love this story - and I will definitely remember the humour within it - but it just couldn’t hold me all the way to the end.

    Buch (Taschenbuch)

A Comedy of Errors about the Antichrist and Armageddon.

A comedy and quasi-parody of the 1976 film The Omen, concerning the birth of the son of Satan, the coming of the End Times and the attempts of the angel Aziraphale and the demon Crowley to avert them. They have misplaced the Anti-Christ and pretty much decided they really like humanity a lot more than either of their bosses.

    Buch (Taschenbuch)

    One of my favorite books

It doesn´t matter if you only read Gaiman OR Pratchett so far, or even if you´ve never read any of their work before. You probably will do so anyway, after finishing this Masterpiece. Join Aziraphale and Crowley, an angel and a demon, on their mission to stop the apocalypse. You will laugh, you will wince, you´ll probably drop it in the bathtub while reading(so make sure you buy 2 copies at least).

    Ineffable and funny

The idea behind this book is genius. Terry and Neil are an amazing duo and created this incredibly funny masterpiece. If you're reading this because you loved the tv show you'll probably love the book, too. If you're only here for Aziraphale and Crowley I must tell you: Yes, they have their moments but the books is about so much more than just those two. It's definitely worth a read for fans of the tv show.

    A masterful collaboration

'Good Omens' is a masterful collaboration by two outstanding artists of the genre, an absolute must-read for all fans of fantasy and/or one or both authors. Witty and funny but at the same time deep, thoughtful, and complex without being tedious. Simply wonderful!
