One True Loves

Emma loves Jesse, that's a fact she knew since the first time she saw him when they were both still in high school. They share their first kiss in a police station and help each other break free from their parents' expectations. Together they leave their hometown for college and end up making a living by traveling the world. Their life seems perfect, and it is, or rather it was. On their first wedding anniversary Jesse's Helicopter crashes and he is presumed dead. Emma is heartbroken and is sure that she will never find a love like this again until she meets Sam. Years later Emma, who is now engaged to Sam, receives a call from an unknown number and is faced with a dilemma: Jesse is still alive and is coming back to her! Will the old love prevail or did the two change so much that Emma will choose Sam? A beautiful story about loving, losing and learning to love again.

Emma and Jesse seem made for each other. They are indescribably in love and don't want to spend another second of their lives without each other. But shortly after their wedding, Jesse disappears and Emma's world collapses. But Emma will find her hope again and with it a new start. However, she is soon confronted with the past again. Now she must choose between what she once had and what she now has. I've never cried so much over a book as I did here. And yes, I cry often. But I couldn't stop here. On the one hand because I found it incredibly tragic what happened to Emma and Jesse and then on the other hand how Emma found her way out of the darkness. I really couldn't tell which path she would choose at the end of the book either. (In the end I was very happy with her decision) It was a great book and I recommend it to everyone! It encourages you to think about the fact that changes are necessary and normal and that they make us human. And these changes make up our lives.

It's been a long time since I was as obsessed with a book as I was with "One True Loves". It stirred up all emotions and left me reading till late at night, impossible to put this book down. A complusive read with an engaging style of writing.
