This book tells the backstory of Alice in Wonderland and explains why the Red Queen became the way she is and how she transformed from a sweet little girl into a cruel, evil queen. The story was absolutely heartbreaking. Even though I already knew the outcome, I desperately hoped to change her fate and give her a little happy ending of her own. My heart was shattered, yet the story made so much sense and completely changed the way I view the original tale. I loved the characters and the entire plot. This book is perfect for readers who enjoy magic and stories that don’t always end happily. But be warned: it will break your heart.
