    Buch (Gebundene Ausgabe)

    Modern zombie (?) apocalypse

Normally when looking for horror books I don't really look for zombie stories. The trope is overused and there is rarely something new that the media wants to discuss. But Paul Tremblay's "Survivor Song" entertained me so much. It's basically about two women, one of them pregnant and infected, and their journey to hopeful safety. The "zombies" (I use the quotation marks consciously here) are great and interesting and the novel asks questions about humanity and morality that I haven't seen before in such a scenario. In general I thought that it had a modern twist on the zombie apocalypse scenario which felt hopefull yet hopeless at the same time which kept me engaged. It wasn't as creepy or gruesome as I would've liked it to be but it was still enjoyable. The prose especially felt very remeniscent of Stephen King but I personally prefer Paul Tremblay!
