Rezension

"Fascinating." - Wall Street Journal

"Sapiens tackles the biggest questions of history and of the modern world." - Jared Diamond, Pulitzer Prize-winning author of Guns, Germs, and Steel, Collapse, and The World until Yesterday

"Yuval Noah Harari's celebrated Sapiens does for human evolution what Stephen Hawking's A Brief History of Time did for physics. . . . He does a superb job of outlining our slow emergence and eventual domination of the planet." - Forbes

"Interesting and provocative. . . . It gives you a sense of perspective on how briefly we've been on this earth, how short things like agriculture and science have been around, and why it makes sense for us to not take them for granted." - President Barack Obama

"I would recommend this book to anyone interested in a fun, engaging look at early human history . . . you'll have a hard time putting it down." - Bill Gates

"This appealing first volume elucidates often misunderstood basics of human evolution (i.e., that until 50,000 years ago, there used to be at least six species of humans) while also unraveling knotty existential questions about humanity's role on this planet. Young science enthusiasts and adult philosophers alike will want to pick up this smart, snappy work." - Publishers Weekly

"In a manner that is both playful and provocative, Harari teams with co-creators adept at the graphic format to enliven his academic studies....An informative, breathless sprint through the evolution and consequences of human development." - Kirkus Reviews

    Impressive, captivating read

I was surprised by the number of subjects addressed in this book. The author does a great job of taking us on a journey through the history of Humankind, while staying captivating.

    A mind-bending book

The (success)story of homo sapiens as told by Yuval Noah Harari really puts our existence into perspective. Among others, especially the reason behind said success-story (i.e., our unique ability to collectively believe in fictions) was quite mind blowing. Harari is a fantastic historian and an even better storyteller.

    My Favorite Book

This is an amazing book, especially the first half. Intriguing, funny, and changed my whole worldview! If I could, I would make every single person read this; i think the world would become a better place.

    A smart minds soul

Never felt more connected to a book or the authors view. An incredible masterpiece and must-have for everybody who is even slightly interested in our human race or better be called the Homo Sapiens itself. I would highly recommend this book to everyone who thinks about our species and wants to know about our previous life on earth. Hararis point of view is very comprehensible, paired with a pinch of sarcasm and cynism, but in the same time he asks important question about our future. We‘ve come a long journey till our ancestors started to follow the road and evolution hits in and now it is in our hands to make well-considered choices and follow the path. You don’t have to concord with the authors point of view, but at least you have to think about his rudiments.

    Das Buch hat meine Perspektive…

Das Buch hat meine Perspektive der Welt und unserer westländische Kultur total verändert. Früher habe ich mich selber vieles gefragt, heute weiss ich dass wenigstens ich nicht alleine bin.
